My story is district 1’s story
My name is Nelson Grande. I was born and raised in Highland Park, the son of immigrants who came to Los Angeles for a better life. Growing up in District 1 taught me the value of hard work, community, and standing up for what is right.
I am a husband and father raising my family in the same neighborhoods where I grew up. I know the struggles of working families because I have lived them, juggling bills, fighting for better schools, and wanting safe neighborhoods for our children.
As a business owner in Westlake and Pico, I have created jobs, trained young people, and supported local families. I have also been an advocate, standing with immigrant families, small businesses, and underrepresented voices across Los Angeles.
At Franklin High, I played Panther football, where I learned teamwork, built lasting friendships, and strengthened my bond with this community.
My story is District 1’s story: rooted in resilience, powered by community, and driven by the belief that we deserve leadership that works as hard as the people who call this district home.
I’m A Father, a Businessman, an Activist — and Proudly from CD1.
My Accomplishments
Throughout my career, I have focused on creating opportunities and amplifying voices that are often overlooked. I built a media-tech company that created jobs and opened doors for local talent. I have worked to increase equity and representation for underrepresented communities.
I have stood with immigrant families, fought for fair treatment, and mentored young people to build skills and confidence. I focus on action and results, and these commitments will guide me as I serve District 1.
